A Very, Very, Very Sleepy Princess (Scallywags Theatre Company)

By | Published on Monday 19 August 2013

Little girls were queue jumping to see the sleepy princess this morning, or maybe they were excited by Bluebell and Buttercup, who took our tickets and invited us into the palace. The hand painted backdrop was a bit of a disappointment; the company had raided their fancy dress shop and provincial style pantomime ensued. There were some lovely performances and nice little moments, especially with the characters that grew in the palace garden. Our unassuming hero, Harry, was charming but he needs to change his ring tone; efforts to make parents laugh fell a little flat. The fairies were a sweet double act, but more could be done to make the smaller audience members feel safe.

theSpace on Niddry St, until 17 Aug (not 11), 10.45am.
