“The world’s only conjoined twin singer-songwriter duo”? What kind Edinburgh Festival goer would turn down such a show? As the ‘sisters’ shuffle on stage, innocently scanning the room of strangers while fixing each other’s hair, the audience is instantly won over. They fumble awkwardly between songs such as ‘Elephant Elephant’, ‘Have You Seen My Sister, Evelyn?’ and epic closer ‘MySpace’, before treating the audience to an intimate cover of ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ on ukulele. They also showcase their puppetry skills to tell their back story with the help of audience members and their awesomely creepy MC Odd; sweet and funny with a great multi-musical talent, Evelyn Evelyn are everything that the Festival stands for, and more. Which is what you might expect, really, from festival enthusiast Amanda Palmer.
Assembly George Square, 17 – 21 Aug, 9.10pm (10.10pm), £12.00 – £13.00, fpp10.
