Piano diva Amy enters to tinny backing music squeaking from an old CD player. In an unsuccessful bid to ooze glamour, everything on set is bedecked in leopard print or a feather boa. She puts one leg around the corner of the stage and winks at the crowd. I cringed. ‘PianoDivalicious!’ is a burlesque-themed cabaret show where its one and only star Amy spends an hour wasting her obvious talent as a pianist by vamping on the piano, reciting puns that aren’t rude enough, and wearing tacky underwear. All that sounds pretty naff, but what made things worse was the dead look in Amy’s eyes throughout. Over-rehearsed, impersonal and lacking the soul that could’ve saved it.
