ED2011 Children’s Show Review: The Adventurers Club – The Great Arctic Caper (Tim FitzHigham)

The show went up late (cast member stuck in traffic), the venue was a bit sticky, but once the show got going, I had the best laugh I’ve had in ages… and my daughter was entertained too. Tim FitzHigham and Tiernan Douieb make a perfect double act, as the former’s high energy capering is a great counterpoint to the latter’s comic solidity. The humour is mildly sophisticated at times, and the 2+ age rating somewhat optimistic – I wouldn’t take a child younger than 4, myself – but the physical antics and appearance of a large furry mammal do help to keep smaller audience members engaged. A fellow audience member tweeted yesterday that he thought these two ought to be on Cbeebies. If they were, I’d definitely be making an effort to watch.

Pleasance Courtyard, 3 – 29 Aug, 4.10pm (4.55pm), £6.50, fpp19
