ED2011 Children’s Show Review: Things That Go… Bump Rattle Klunk Clackle Woo! (Luna Arts Theatre Company)

Taking the approach that baddies are more fun, ‘Things That Go…’ stars a wicked witch, a mad professor, a werewolf and a naughty hunchback. Of these, sadly, only Prof Von Pumpenstein and his assistant Knucklecracker really entertain, as they screech and cackle while playing games with the assembled children. Though these audience participation sections are fun and involving, this show is too long even when it runs fifteen minutes shorter than its stated two-hour length. This is largely due to the failed-actress-turned-witch and her assistant, Fido, being lumbered with a great deal of unfunny dialogue, songs and audience participation. There’s a good hour-long show in here, but it’s a shame it’s lost among the padding.

Greenside, 22 – 27 Aug, 4.00pm (6.00pm), £6.00 – £8.00, fpp29.
