Car Crash Comedy (Sarah May Philo / Multiple Acts)
By Ellie Blow | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2011
Comedians of all levels are invited on stage. They pick a subject from a hat, then have to improvise five minutes of material whilst the audience heckle and car-crash sound effects signal their imminent failure. If this sounds like your sort of thing, you’ll love ‘Car Crash Comedy’; if, like me, you find watching comedians fail to be funny rather… well, unfunny… you’ll probably find it excruciating. The format is the real star here, and the exit music alone – ‘Another One Bites The Dust’ – is worth a giggle. If you like your laughs cheap and cruel, ‘Car Crash Comedy’ is just the thing. But if watching people dry up and fail isn’t for you, drive on by.
