Colin Hoult’s Inferno (Phil McIntyre Entertainments by arrangement with Dawn Sedgwick Management)

By | Published on Sunday 14 August 2011

As I find myself trudging around with the rest of the audience in a sort of giant merry-go-round, I realise Colin Hoult has taken audience-interaction to new levels. Unfortunately, this is about the only thing he does well as many of his character creations are unoriginal and too similar to keep attention from waning. More credit should go to his co-stars, who are actually more amusing than Colin himself and act excellently: supporting roles should have been starring, particularly Zoe Gardner with her Vicky Pollard-esque character. The show is obviously low-cost to the extreme, with props looking like they’ve been gathered from Hoult’s garage. Sadly, this is one inferno that fails to ignite much amusement at all.

Pleasance Courtyard, 3 – 29 Aug (not 16), 7.05pm (8.05pm), £10.50 – £12.00, fpp58.
