Dead Cat Bounce – Caged Heat (Off The Kerb Productions with the Lisa Richard Agency)

By | Published on Sunday 14 August 2011

Quality sound, a smoky stage, bold lights and a sexy front man – possibly things to expect more from a rock gig than a comedy show. Unfortunately, while this musical-comedy act is all singing and all dancing, it could not keep me laughing. Dead Cats Bounce’s general idea is to sing songs about tedious subject matters in a glorified rock-ballad style. At times it’s amusing, but too many jokes are obvious and repetitive, and these boys lack the timing necessary to be truly funny. By their own admission a novelty act, while these guys might provide some entertainment to the drunken and dim-witted, Dead Cat Bounce do not really belong in the comedy pages of the Fringe.

Pleasance Courtyard, Aug 3 – 28 (not 15), 10.30pm (11.30pm), £9.50 – £12.00, fpp65.
