ED2011 Comedy Review: Fat Kitten Vs The World (Fat Kitten Improv/PBH Free Fringe)

Facing the Improv group in residence was the Improv group Ludus Ludius, from Cardiff. The format of the show and the style of games were a touch jittery and hindered pace attempted to be created. Nor was it that funny: the emphasis is on creating coherent plot-lines and congruent characters rather than comedy. Games ended with a gag or punchline rather than when the story had been nicely rounded off to its natural conclusion, which left the show feeling a little monotonous. Abi Symons (the captainn of Fat Kitten) has a good wit on her and, slap me on the wrist for this, I found her funnier than most on stage. I learnt some cracking chat-up lines, though. Win.
