“It’s the Working Men’s Club at Get Happy tonight!” is normally not something one wishes to hear in anticipation of an evening of stand-up. Yet sadly, this was the theme for tonight’s show: cue recycled Bernard Manning ‘mother-in-law’ jokes and gags of a dirty-old-man nature. The darts, bingo and raffle to win a selection of pepperoni sausage snacks were an interesting feature, but this show is definitely a mixed bag. The only saving grace was the headline act in the form of musical mash-up band Rayguns Look Real Enough. But hey, perhaps I got a dud night, as the show has previously attracted big Fringe names such as Andi Osho and Scott Capurro. My advice: always check the line-up.
Just The Tonic at The Tron, Aug 4 – 28 (not 16), 10.20pm (11.20pm), £7.00 – £9.00, fpp82.
