Henry Paker – Cabin Fever (Mick Perrin For Just For Laughs Live)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

Despite the Pleasance Hut’s intimate and slightly claustrophobic atmosphere, ‘Cabin Fever’ was not a show that I was eager to escape from prematurely. Henry Paker, a well-spoken eccentric, delivered a sophisticated and surprising routine that contained more exotic flights of fancy than a luxury airline company’s departure timetable. His askance patterns of thought were entertaining rather than irritating, offering original perspectives on clichéd stand-up topics that are in dire need of comic rejuvenation. I cannot applaud a single moment for being superior to the rest, as the performance featured very few weak links, and I was too distracted by my own laughter to write comprehensive reviewer’s notes. Please keep Mr Paker in mind when you’re purchasing Fringe tickets next August.

Pleasance Courtyard, 3 – 29 Aug (not 15), 8.30pm (9.30pm), £7.00 – £9.50, fpp87.
