Lee Camp Is: Yet Another American Mistake (Lee Camp / The Stand Comedy Club)
By Iain Martin | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011
Americans are fat and stupid. CEOs of multinational companies care more about money than people. Right-wing politicians are evil. If you think you’ve heard all this before, you’re probably right; Lee Camp’s comedy doesn’t exactly break new ground with its content. However, what he lacks in originality, he makes up for in talent: he’s a funny man, and watching him unleash his vitriol at his targets is undeniably entertaining. His wit is acerbic and mischievous, especially during the four short videos which form part of his show, including a truly heroic appearance by Camp on Fox News. It’s a solid hour of comedy, but it’s difficult to shake that feeling of familiarity.
The Stand Comedy Club III & IV, 4 – 28 Aug (not 15), 11.45pm (12.45am), £7.00 – £8.00, fpp108.
