Matt Green’s schoolboy face belies his mature intelligence and sharp-witted improvisation skills. The Oxbridge-educated comedian’s unexpectedly impressive audience patter set the bar high at the beginning of the show; what a relief when ticket buyers did not leave disappointed 55 minutes later. Ironically, for a performance concerned with the public’s lack of focus in the materialistic age of rapid technological progress, ‘Too Much Information’ was remarkably focussed and well-structured. Green’s derision of the inappropriate corporate sponsorship for the 2012 Olympics – next summer’s international diversion – was creative and meticulously considered. Another highlight occurred in the show’s dying seconds, when apparently unrelated anecdotes from earlier were threaded together fantastically. ‘Too Much Information’ was a highly pleasant distraction, well worth my undivided attention.
