So Much Potential (Heron and Timpani / PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2011

Armed with props and ukuleles, Jonathan Hearn and Chris Timoney are enthusiastic and engaging hosts of a show in which they display their talents both as a double act and as individuals. Timoney’s ditties on the ukulele have the audience laughing in knowing recognition of common drunken sentimentalities; Hearn has an unconventional but intelligent style, exemplified in a befuddling act of puppetry, using his bare hands, during which a battle of wits between the hands becomes wonderfully incomprehensible. Undeniably, the show is tainted by the mishaps and weaker moments typical of a new show which features short appearances by less experienced comics; however, with the duo’s winning collaboration and guests who vary daily, it does indeed have potential.
