Wendy Wason’s Flashbacks

In her own words, Wendy Wason is “cutting it fine”. Dwarfed by a huge baby bump, she looks as though she ought to have trouble walking, never mind entertaining comedy-goers for an hour – yet she manages both with impressive ease. The show itself takes the form of a loose autobiography, skipping through the decades. Tellingly, though, it’s when she deviates from the set-up that she gets the biggest laughs. She’s likeable, trading local knowledge with the audience as though old friends, and although her show’s never groundbreaking, it’s always enjoyable. If nostalgia trips are your bag, you’ll love ‘Flashbacks’; but if you prefer your comedy up to date, don’t splash out.
