ED2011 Music Review: Otway On Otway (John Otway / PBH’s Free Fringe)

Dubbed ‘Rock n’ Roll’s Greatest Failure’, John Otway talks us through the highs and lows (mostly lows) of his very eventful 35-year-long music career. What started off as a presentation for students has led to a hilarious show filled with tales of self-delusion, realisation and relentless determination. The incredibly hyper almost-60-year-old comes across as rather eccentric; however, what is clear from the show is that, despite countless flops and only breaking into the charts twice, Otway has never lost his passion for success. In fact, despite the rather expensive failure of his World Tour, he is now investing in making a movie based on his career. A must see for Otway fans and Fringe-attendees alike!

The Voodoo Rooms, 7 – 17 Aug, 3.00pm (4.00pm), free, fpp215.
