The surroundings are somewhat underwhelming in the RAOB Social Club’s function room, but the featured acts more than make up for this. MJ Hibbett compères this hour of acoustic music which ranges from comedy guitar and ukulele pieces to more serious and arresting songs that make the spine tingle. Bringing together the stars of many shows from around the festival, the show makes for an energetic hour with some acts relishing the chance to perform something different or, like Helen Arney, utilising the gig to try out some new material. There is a good rapport between performers and the audience, and the whole gig feels intimate and special; a lovely evening.
Buff’s Club (RAOB), 10, 17 Aug, 6.15pm (7.15pm), free, fpp222.
