ED2011 Musicals Review: Evil – The Musical (Imps)

Evil by name, and evil by its very nature, this spoof super-villain musical is a terror to behold. Something has gone badly wrong when you find yourself posing the following theatrical question: which is worse, the acting or the script? Except on this occasion if you simply cannot decide, you have the option of backing the utterly appalling songs instead. The laughs are few and very far between – a joke made about the cheap set is mildly amusing the first time and fist-clenchingly awful by the tenth mention. There is one good gag about Nazi Fanta and the best character is the ‘Sidekick’ who barely opens his mouth. Save yourselves – beg, borrow or steal The Incredibles DVD instead.

Gryphon Venues at The Point Hotel, 15 – 20 Aug, 6.35pm (7.50pm), £7.00 – £8.00, fpp225.
