Confessions Of A Mormon Boy (Steven Fales)

By | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2011

Steven Fales is a Mormon. Steven Fales is gay. He also clearly thinks that this makes him some kind of screaming big deal, as he bangs on for ninety long minutes. It’s amazingly self-indulgent, as though he truly believes himself to be the only gay man ever to have been emerged from a religious background and struggled with his sexuality as a result. His jokes frequently play off tired gay stereotypes, his musical interludes are beyond cheesy, and even the more emotional and shocking points of his story are robbed of their impact by Fales’ chronic over-acting. Full of meaningful glances and dramatic pauses, he is at times like someone parodying William Shatner, but nowhere near as entertaining. Dire.
