Doors Close, They Never Lock (That’s Lunch Productions)

By | Published on Tuesday 30 August 2011

It’s not an ideal situation for a nursery worker to owe a big favour to a convicted and recently released murderer. The title refers to the innocuous Kingsley, whose past debt of eight grand is catching up with him; it requires him to store the dubious boxes of an old friend, Anderson, in his nursery. This production could definitely be pacier – for example, Anderson, with his sinisterly slow delivery and gait, is at first genuinely terrifying, but after an hour you start to imagine he’d be easy enough to outrun. Michael Shand, who also wrote and directed the play, displays brilliant comic-timing as Moffat. The gripping plot and skilled acting make this play a pretty entertaining production.

The Tom Fleming Centre, 15, 17 Aug, 7.30pm (9.00pm), £8.00 (£6.00), fpp257.
