MissImp In Action (MissImp)

By | Published on Wednesday 31 August 2011

When a leading actress is forced to withdraw at short notice, any theatre company could be forgiven for despairing. Not MissImp, though, who are using the slot in which they intended to perform ‘A HR’d Day’s Night’ for their brand of fun, inclusive improv. Many of their games – such as a scene performed entirely in Shakespearean vernacular – you may have seen before, but the possibly less commonly found ‘backwards interview’ is a devil of a routine necessitating great concentration from one unlucky performer. The troupe’s humility – despite their patent talent – is refreshing, and wide-eyed Nick Tyler is an energetic and uplifting compere who ensures that the pace never slackens. Well worth an hour of your time, especially on the troupe’s donate-what-you-think-we-deserve basis.
