1950s Messina is where we lay our scene for the most anticipated wedding of the year. Sadly, things don’t go according to plan when the villainous leather jacket-clad Don John has his way. Highgate School perform a unique adaptation of Shakespeare’s classic with a vibrant 50s flair. The comedy of this play shines through the witty Benedick and three hopelessly incompetent policemen. What detracted from the performance, unfortunately, were the musical rock and roll interludes: they were jarring and often obscured the first few lines of every act. In addition, the 50s concept could have been slightly more developed. Overall, this was an entertaining performance from a very talented group of young people.
