All too often an ‘adult take’ on a children’s staple just means inserting dicks, so it’s a wonderful surprise that ‘Myrtle Chops’ is intelligent, funny and delightfully dark. Endearingly home-made puppets act out morality tales, each of which has a surprising twist. Narrated via sharp, funny rhymes and performed by four talented young actors, none of the stories are dull and the laughs keep coming. Even better, Bunting Puddle understand that their adult tales must still work as morality plays. The lyrics are occasionally inaudible, but this their only misstep. It’s a shame ‘Myrtle Chops’ is only running for a week, as this is a show that will just get more and more popular on word of mouth and rightfully so.
