Turning 40 is the catalyst for reforming “the band” and reuniting this motley crew of unforgettable characters. Serious Neil, camp Tony, immature Stevie and sarcastic Jan revisit long-buried secrets while pursuing their twenty-year dream of being Eurovision champions. This comedy about getting older without forgetting how you got there will leave your face sore from smiling; Practical Magic deserves a standing ovation for its stupendous casting, clever set designs and fresh writing, the colloquialisms throughout which add texture without being jarring. This Scottish comedy-drama has something in it for most, though it may be hard for an under-25 audience to fully appreciate it. Find out what gets in the way of Eurovision glory in this charming play. You won’t want it to end.
