ED2011 Theatre Review: Time For The Good Looking Boy (Box Clever)

This urban story of one “not-bad-looking boy” starts out rather lightly, when the boy arrives home from a night out and, to his dismay, cannot wake his snoring mother to open the door. The story plunges into a chilling drama almost immediately after, reaching its pinnacle when the boy begins to remember what had really happened that night. Though this performance proved engaging in many aspects, the plot twist was in fact rather predictable and anti-climatic. The denouement also seemed to drag a bit, somewhat marring the intended gripping effect. Nevertheless, the emotive storyline and superb acting certainly explain why the audience appeared so entranced when the actor stood before them one last time, taking his elated bow.

Pleasance Dome, 4 – 29 Aug (not 15, 23), 2.50pm (3.50pm), £8.00 – £10.00, fpp304.
