James Moakes’ sheer enthusiasm powers us through this geekonomics-filled hour (geek-based economics). On a one-man mission to prove the futility of a gold-standard economy, Moakes has begun to buy up every available Ram Man He-Man toy he can lay his hands on. In doing so, and telling people about it, he is instilling these objects with false value. They have no material value or use, but because he wants them, they become a valuable commodity. It’s an extremely entertaining hour as Moakes, or ‘the Ram Man man’ as he likes to be called, highlights the stupidity of our current economic system as well informing us of niche geek culture. ‘You Will Be Rare’ really is worth seeing.
