Will Brooker – Will The Real Caped Crusader Please Stand Up? (Edinburgh International Book Festival)
By Pallavi Patel | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
Will Brooker is the author of several books on cultural studies dealing with, among other things, Alice in Wonderland, Star Wars and Batman, (or in his own words, everything he liked best at the age of seven). During this introduction, Brooker sits very still in his very sharp suit, profile half in shadow, looking remarkably like a shaded-in inhabitant of a comic book story. Coming to life, Will Brooker goes on to discuss his work, which has earned him the enviable nickname of ‘Dr Batman’, and the new ideas explored in his latest book, ‘Hunting The Dark Knight’. This was a compelling and fascinating hour for any die-hard fan – or anyone intrigued to learn more about the myth of the Batman.
