ED2012 Comedy Review: Ben Hustwayte & Jack Campbell – Get It On (Ben Hustwayte & Jack Campbell/PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Wednesday 15 August 2012

Ben Hustwayte and Jack Campbell are acceptable but unspectacular at stand-up comedy. I had no major problems with their twenty-minute sets; they were both fine; absolutely fine. Given that they have only started performing recently, “absolutely fine” should be viewed as high praise indeed, so I’d say keep on going, lads, because you seem quite talented, you each had a handful of smirk-raising anecdotes, and I might have laughed aloud once or twice. I can’t help thinking that, given more practice, the pair will definitely improve as storytellers, so I don’t think there’s any need for them to be disheartened. However, I would warn them against overconfidence, because although at the moment, they have potential to do okay at this, I can’t see them ever making it on TV.

Globe, 4 – 25 Aug, 6.00pm.
