ED2012 Comedy Review: Des Clarke – Final Destination (Bound And Gagged by arrangement with Debi Allen Associates)

Des Clarke is from Glasgow, but whether he likes that fact is anyone’s guess. It matters little; the many faces of the industrial city simply form a backdrop for the Capital Breakfast Show host to weave his mesmerising anecdotal and off-hand comedy. An outrageously talented and confident stand-up, Clarke hits the ground running, launching into a Glaswegian look at the Olympics with a wit and verve that only the best can muster. With a fantastic selection of jokes and asides, Clarke makes an audience of twenty seem like a thousand as they roar at his every utterance. Mark my words, Des Clarke is destined for greater things than the Assembly sauna; catch him while he is still affordable.

Assembly George Square, 1-27 Aug (not 8, 13), 8.00pm.
