Fresh Faces At The Free Fringe (Danny Worthington, Elise Harris And Others / PBH’s Free Fringe)

You might expect a comedy show of nervous newbies to be haphazard, but, perhaps not that the compère would announce ”This isn’t going well” throughout. A stream of over-consciousness followed, splitting the room between comedy-goers and some builders at the bar, creating an uncomfortable them-and-us situation. The builders had funnier quips than the comedians who asked how long they had left in their set. James McIntosh, however, was sunshine after the storm as he wakened from his corner blurting arbitrary, abstract statements about T-Rex and ”But it’s my Birthday, Mum!”, linking the synapses creatively in a comedy mind map. It finished early ”You’ll all be glad to know”; but these are early days, and things may improve.
Belushi’s, 4-25 Aug, 6.00pm.
