ED2012 Comedy Review: Giacinto Palmieri-Pagliaccio (Giacinto Palmieri / Laughing Horse Free Festival)

ED2012 2/5 Reviews ED2012 Comedy Reviews

Sometimes a show’s failings can be partly blamed on outside circumstances, and in this case I think it’s fair to say that this show was not helped by the two person audience; I’d probably go further and lay some of that blame at the door of the venue, who do nothing to promote the presence of the show. It is particularly unfortunate as Giacinto Palmieri comes across as very pleasant and knowledgeable, particularly about opera, as the show compares his own life to those of opera characters. While those unfamiliar with opera classics and perhaps Italian culture at large, might not feel this show is for them, Giacinto deserves an audience of more than two and his performance would almost certainly benefit from a few extra funny bones to tickle.

Laughing Horse @ The Newsroom, 2-26 Aug, 7.00pm.
