Michelle Wormleighton – Bewildered (Michelle Wormleighton / PBH’s Free Fringe)
By Anna McDonald | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
A time travelling Victorian whore, a half-French spider and a Welsh arsonist are some of the characters played by Michelle Wormleighton in her one-woman show. Although listed under comedy, this show feels more like a piece of theatre; it’s not that it isn’t humorous, but the fact that the characters are so well-developed and the manner in which Wormleighton delivers the monologues definitely amps up the drama. The storytelling is fantastic. The only indication of a change in character is a wig or two, but Wormleighton fully commits and is convincing as each one. Bewildered is an apt title, as at times that’s how the audience feels, but while the content can be bizarre, Wormleighton’s performance makes up for it.
