ED2012 Comedy Review: Neil Delamere – DelaMere Mortal (Off The Kerb Productions by arrangement with Lisa Richards Agency)

When audience banter goes right, the real test for a comic is not whether they can make that section funny, but if they can recover from the impromptu hilarity and regain control of the set. Neil Delamere copes admirably after one audience member encourages another to wank on stage (don’t ask), weaving in references to the incident throughout the remainder of his solidly funny set. A comic of real skill, Delamere’s reflections on growing old are sharp, silly and just the right side of offensive while his material races along, rarely lagging and delivering laugh after laugh. Not every show will have masturbating audience members, but with Delamere at the microphone, all the sets will be funny.

Pleasance Courtyard, 1-26 Aug (not 13), 9.00pm.
