ED2012 Musicals Review: In Musical Company (Edinburgh Musical Theatre Company)

By | Published on Monday 20 August 2012

If you want to sit comfortably and listen to classic show tunes performed by a very nicely presented group, this is the show for you. What it doesn’t quite have is the ‘wow’ factor, which might make you want to go and see it again. The group contains some good voices, but sadly the delivery was not quite exciting enough for me; the songs were well chosen but a little woodenly performed, however, the fully integrated sign language which came with every song was somehow very charming to watch. A highlight for me was ‘The Circle of Life’, which made an excellent climax to the show, and the enthusiasm and energy of the group as a whole was obvious, and very pleasant.

St Cuthbert’s Parish Church, 6-10 August, times vary.
