Five performers take to the stage in an underwhelming effort to bring the art of dance into the digital age. The act is broken into five scenes attempting to convey the physical rigour and machine like repetitiveness dancers face when striving for perfection, and to highlight the competitive nature of dance. Deliberately monotonous music grew wearing and moves in the “battle” sequence seemed artificial and forced. One engaging section where real-time movements were reflected on-screen alleviated the humdrum, but don’t hold your breath as you are handed 3D glasses; you won’t be clasping at thin air for reassurance of an illusion. A long winded video featuring the performers of the show was detrimental anyway – I prefer physical theatre to be conducted in person.
