Ellipsis (Ellipsis Theatre)
By Rachel Campbell | Published on Friday 31 August 2012
If you’re a Brecht fan, you should go and see this play; like that author’s work, it’s completely unrealistic and, as an audience, we are fed constant reminders that we are watching a play completely unrelated to our lives. ‘Ellipsis’ is set in the 1940s and sees three girls searching for a faceless man, but we never find out who that man is; though with what seems like possession and religion as a recurring theme, the faceless man might be God. The movement was slick and well-timed, the cast using what space they had to full advantage, while the play was actually quite scary at times, another reflection of the strong performances.
