ED2013 Cabaret Review: Ali McGregor’s Late-Nite Variety-Nite Night (Ali McGregor And Assembly)

ED2013 5/5 Reviews ED2013 Cabaret Reviews

Ali McGregor proves her good taste at her ‘Late-Nite Variety-Nite’. She picks all the acts herself and the night I went blew me away, with special guests Marcel Lucont, Lior and the Wau Wau Sisters. Her female butler, or “buttress”, Flaxen McGinty (Virginia Gay) was on hand to intimately warm up the audience and because it was her last night in Edinburgh, Ali had arranged some extra special guests. The exquisite Lady Rizo joined Ali, Flaxen and Lior on stage to sing ‘Come Together’. And then one of The Briefs offered his shirtless torso for a tequila shot. In between all these acts, Ali charmed us with her wit, magical voice and with no inhibition regarding her impressive pregnant belly.

Assembly Checkpoint, until 25 Aug (not 19, 20, 21), 10.40pm.
