ED2013 4/5 Reviews ED2013 Comedy Reviews

Addy Time (Addy Van Der Borgh / PBH’s Free Fringe)

By | Published on Friday 9 August 2013

Addy Van der Borgh is a very funny man, and he knows it. Striding confidently about the stage in his cap and chequered trousers, he joked back and forth with the audience before launching into a wonderfully vitriolic analysis of his day-to-day life. A large part of this involved pedantically ripping apart inane phrases used by the service industry, which seem to be his pet hate. A lot of his show was clearly improvised, based on audience interaction, which highlighted his natural comedic talent. His movements have an expressive, mime-like quality and he’s also very musically accomplished, both on the piano and harmonica. An extremely strong comedian showcasing several techniques (stand up, character, song), this is a must-see.

The Canon’s Gait, until 25 Aug, 8.25pm.
