Scotland’s Pick Of The Fringe (Scottish Comedy Festival)

By | Published on Monday 26 August 2013

The highlight of this disastrous, dragging comedy show was actually the host, which says a lot about the standard set by comedians Bruce Fummey and Silky. He does a half decent job of warming up the room, but when Fummey arrives the atmosphere soon dies down. Though some of his jokes hit the right note, he never really gets going. As Fummey’s set ends, the host steps in and again lifts the mood slightly; only to witness this ruined by the arrival of awkward, miserable Silky. He just isn’t funny, and resorts to improvised songs in an attempt to make any sort of mark on the audience. An uncomfortable hour, and not one to which I would return in a hurry.

Scottish Comedy Festival @ The Beehive Inn, until 25 Aug (not 12, 19), 9.00pm.
