Tall, Dark And Daryl (Tall, Dark And Daryl)

By | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013

There were some good bits in ‘Tall, Dark And Daryl’, including the Axl Rose and John Bon Jovi-themed sketches, and Andy Field reading an extract from his erotic novel. The atmosphere was extremely laid back, with the comedians organising their material on stage, which did result in a friendly room, with people eager for some casual comedy. But this same easygoingness failed to engage the audience in the way a more energetic performance might. And the performers often aimed for the awkward-random style of comedy that thrives at the Fringe but, like deliberately offensive material, is especially painful when it doesn’t quite work. While the down-to-earth, amiable vibe was enjoyable, the show was sadly more miss than hit.

Henry’s Cellar Bar, until 24 Aug, 3.30pm.
