Two Tickets To The Gum Show (Eric Lampaert / Free Festival)

By | Published on Tuesday 27 August 2013

Eric Lampaert has one of those faces that you’re almost certain to recognise, but will be unable to place. He’s quick to address this in his set, describing the pitfalls and hardships of being a ‘minor celebrity’ – including the use of his face in a Mexican concrete advert and the impostor who posed as him at Butlins. Lampaert’s refined set was impressive in its professional approach and most of his material got solid laughs. There was a notable lack of killer punchlines, and a slight hint of self-indulgence, but Lampaert certainly has the potential to become a force on the circuit. With a little more bite, you can expect to see him on a larger stage in the future.

Laughing Horse @ The Counting House, until 25 Aug (not 20), 5.15pm.
