Unmanageable (Kim Hope and Larry Dean are:)
By Robert Stuart | Published on Saturday 10 August 2013
Hope and Dean both lived up to their title, covering subjects ranging from homophobia to sexual pursuits in a short set, lasting 35 minutes. Much was entertaining, but there was an inherent problem: these energetic comedians lacked substance behind their bravado. Everything was in place to shock the audience, but deft comic delivery was often absent, resulting in a few jokes falling rather flat. Both were engaging performers and managed to hold the crowd’s attention and appreciation, in a somewhat muggy venue. But whilst doing their best to be unmanageable, the real issue here was that they just weren’t troublesome enough.
