Get Got (Janski Productions)
By Holly Sharp | Published on Sunday 18 August 2013
A bitchy, biting, all-singing, all-dancing insight into life behind the TV cameras. Unfortunately ‘Get Got’ just can’t decide what it wants to be. A lack of time spent developing believable characters means that things never stray beyond being quite funny, or quite thoughtful. There are strong performances, but these are universally amped to the max, resulting in a cull of any texture or subtlety. An interesting opening sequence is spoiled by the fact that it’s all too obvious. All this culminates in a muting of what should be a powerful, explosive conclusion. There’s the seed of a brilliant idea here; perhaps if the show would quieten down for a second, we’d ‘Get Got’ the message.
C too, until Aug 26 (not 13), 8.35pm.
