La Donna È Mobile (RemoteControl)

By | Published on Thursday 22 August 2013

‘La Donna È Mobile’ is an extremely surrealist piece of physical theatre which explores the many facets of the female. Far more fun than the flyers let on, the show sees a quartet of ladies artfully satirise the sexual, and explore the devious in a very expressive and somewhat odd way. To be specific: at one point there was one performer singing with her eyes covered. Another was rubbing her face in jam and another was violently hitting a damp cloth with a rolling pin while the forth lay on the floor and twitched. A performance which may not appeal to everyone, but which received a standing ovation from this audience. It’s difficult to do surrealism well, but this troupe nailed it.

Summerhall, until 25 Aug (not 12, 19), 9.30pm.
