MurleyDance Double Bill (MurleyDance)
By Iris Ordean | Published on Friday 16 August 2013
I have an uncanny feeling that the people responsible for this show all possessed very different visions – or, at least, this seems to be the case from the end result. The attempted fusing of David Murley’s ‘La Peau’ with Gwyn Emberton’s ‘Five Women Wearing the Same Dress’ turns out to be a poor choice for two reasons. Firstly, because they are radically different and secondly, because the latter’s sophistication is overshadowed by the bizarreness of the former. I felt more than once that I was witnessing an audition, or the presentation of a portfolio. Umberto Aragno is the one bright spot, and is clearly a very talented dancer. The rest inspires little more than indifference.
Greenside, until 24 Aug (not 11, 18), 12.30pm.
