Dilemma (Olga Kosterina)

If you suddenly stuck something over my eyes I’d have problems just standing up, let alone even contemplating the hauntingly beautiful contortions that Olga Kosterina executes in this compelling performance. Kosterina performs the majority of ‘Dilemma’ blindfolded, embodying an individual incarcerated in their own mind and tormented by fear. The show implies that escape from one’s neuroses will always be restricted by a looming shroud of terror. Unfortunately, the pace drags at times and there are several sequences that feel like time-fillers. You’ll have to get over a slightly twee presentation of black and white representing good and evil, and quash your wishes that the piece be 15 minutes shorter; but it’s still worth popping in to witness Kosterina’s ethereal command of the stage.
