Blaggards (British Exist Theatre)

By | Published on Saturday 10 August 2013

With its death, drugs, booze, temptation and love, Blaggards bar is a hotbed of the frustrated emotions that supposedly dictate the lives of Generation Y. The script was decent enough, but its noticeable presence within the show was extremely unwelcome and disappointing. Lines were often spoken with too much immediacy, not just resulting in numerous stumbles, but irritatingly reminding the audience of the show’s artificiality. Multiple props were used to good effect, in particular the movement and twisting of the central table to indicate differing locations. The characters Emily and Hannah were the definite highlight of the show and ‘Blaggards’ must be praised for the efforts of the duo. It’s just a shame it lacks in substance and originality.

Laughing Horse @ The Free Sisters, until 25 Aug, 10.45am.
