Chops (International Collegiate Theatre Festival)

Men in this small American town have been disappearing, and now with the corpse of her latest husband lying on her parlour floor, the ladies of high society think they have finally caught black widow Marg out.   From the moment you enter and catch a glimpse of the corpse lying on the stage this show is seemingly an intriguing Victorian murder mystery, but it’s much more than that with fierce violence, verbal wrestling and a focus on the battle of the sexes. Billed as a linguistic farce, this show has some witty moments but a lot of the humour of the text is not drawn out or executed well by the cast. Still, this an interesting piece that is worth a watch.
