Kierkegaard Comedy Show – With Claus Damgaard (Teater Katapult)

By | Published on Friday 16 August 2013

This is essentially a lively introduction to the works of Søren Kierkegaard. So Claus Damgaard’s comedy is definitely an acquired taste, and if you are a well-practiced philosopher you may have a fighting chance of understanding it. But, as passionate as Damgaard may be, amusing he is not; the audience sat in a confused daze, chuckling politely if direct eye contact was made. He even had to inform one audience member they were laughing at the wrong moments. The few gags that did get a genuine smirk were only occasioned as Claus stepped out of his scholarly rant to address the audience members directly. Unless you know everything there is to know about Kiergaard’s ideologies, I doubt this is the show for you.

C aquila, until Aug 26, 2.20pm.
