Notes From Bermondsey Street (Bear Pit Theatre)

By | Published on Sunday 25 August 2013

In a restaurant on Bermondsey Street, notes are tucked away in the drawer of a table. These are tales from strangers of the past, diners who gave into the temptation of writing down their secrets. For each note, the leader selects performers from a group of ghoulish dancers wearing gobling masks, and charges them with re-enacting the written secret. The players sometimes dance in a crooked way, like marionettes, or like oak trees in a dark wood that have come to life. They also become lads on a holiday, a man leaving his girlfriend, a solitary woman enjoying dinner by herself. At times dark and sinister, sometimes humorous and light, sometimes mundane and everyday, this show presents us with a group of accomplished dancers and actors bringing to life the personal stories of those living on Bermondsey Street.

C, until 26 Aug, 7.30pm.
